How Allergies and Frequent Urination can be Related

Despite the common belief that allergies can essentially dry your body out with all of the sneezing, the runny nose, and the moist cough; there are several ways in which allergies can also cause frequent urination.

The most common cause of allergy related urination actually has nothing to do with your allergy at all--but what you take to try and tone down the allergic reaction. Allergy medicine is a prime culprit for many people dealing with both allergies and frequent urination. It's important to remember that not all drugs have this side effect, but if you are taking an allergy medication and you feel as though you have to urinate more frequently, call your pharmacist.

Another possible reason for your frequent urination is if you have celiac disease. This is a type of condition where gluten products (breads, etc.) cannot be properly digested. Celiac disease can lead to frequent urination or bowel movements as your body attempts to remove the undigested food rather quickly. While not technically an allergy, such a condition can produce allergy-like symptoms, so see your doctor for a celiac blood test.

Finally, you may be somewhat allergic to foods or drinks that are high in acid content like orange juice or coffee. Such highly acidic foods can lead to frequent urination by triggering an allergic reaction in your system.
